Seamless Transition to Morland

6th January 2010

A Case study on how Morland allowed a fabricator to switch from a Euro based supplier to a sterling based supplier without disruption

In 2009 The UNITE Group plc, (the UK’s leading student accommodation provider) needed to resource the supply of some case goods from a Continental supplier to a UK based source.
Ian Bird, Procurement Vendor Manager takes up the story. “We looked at Morland as a possible source for the items in question, but had no trading history with them.
The parts would appear to be simple, but differences in board thickness between the Continent and the UK and a lack of good quality drawings in English meant that there was a fair amount of technical support required.
Morland took over the drawing requirement quickly understanding our working methods which allowed us to move the supply without any disruption to our process. Since switching Unite have not only had the benefit of a UK based supplier, but lead times and hence our stockholding have been reduced and Morland’s delivery performance has been very responsive.”
Andrew Warren Commercial Manager of Morland states, “ We are focused on meeting the requirements of the off site construction industry, especially fabricators who fit out. Unite are advanced in their methods of delivering a fully finished room and Morland are proud to have established a trading relationship with Unite in 2009. We hope to work with them for many years to come. “
