Skirtseal

Skirtseal is a useful tool to improve the air tightness of a building.  The junction of the wall and floor is a critical control point in achieving air tightness and Skirtseal reduces air movement at that point.

The concept is simple.  Take the technology of composite seals used in windows and introduce it to the underside of a skirting board.  With Skirtseal the finishing timber cover mould now has a function – reducing air permeability.

The Energy Savings Trust in their publication “Improving airtightness in dwellings” highlights the problem of air leakage at the floor wall junction.  Whether it is improving an existing building or part of a new build, by fitting Skirtseal you have a proven, efficient sealing foam with a tough abrasion resistant liner fitted painlessly in a critical control point.
